"I want to test out an idea for a website BUT don't want the financial or technical commitment", this is a statement I'm all too familiar with hearing.

If and when you start your online business you will more than likely want to set it up as economically as possible and this also includes setting your website as well. For those who are just getting started online, WordPress is the platform of choice, you can create a website without a budget and hiring someone, WordPress offers the cheapest and most versatile option.

It’s a great idea to set up your first website in WordPress for many reasons. Set up a WordPress website, if you are not sure about which business to go into, whether it is hosted or self-hosted, is an economical way of making a mistake. You can get some WordPress experience through trial and error kind of homework for very little cost which you can take with you to your next website venture or just enhance the website you already have.

For those people who are on a tight budget you can explore hosting your website at WordPress.com which is the best option, as there is no payment required, not much technical skills and being hosted on the WordPress website you can presume it is in safe hands and would be very secure. However, there are limitations with this method, to understand them you need to look further down the life of both your business and your website.

Even though hundreds of free and paid WordPress templates are available, you may want more flexibility on the look and feel of the templates. To change the color scheme or change an image and customize the WordPress template to your liking you need to access the templates css files. This is a paid enhancement option and only for those websites that are hosted at WordPress.com.

Many of the WordPress templates have a variety of options. These options allow you to edit the template from the dashboard on the backend. If options such as changing the header or images aren’t available within the dashboard, it’s a signal that you may have to pay extra for customization.

With all that said a WordPress hosted site is still an effective way to test the waters so to speak, so do your research and if you require assistance remember we are a quick email away info [at] redwandventures [dot] com.
